There is an old Provencal saying that if you spend Christmas on the balcony, then at Easter you’ll be hogging the fire. And if this winter is anything to go by, then those spending their spring holidays in a villa St Tropez might well need to bring a few jumpers along.
Temperatures on the Cote d’Azur last November were the second warmest on record, whilst those celebrating Christmas in their villas St Tropez enjoyed one of the hottest for years, with temperatures regularly hovering around the 16C.
Such fortunate weather meant that after tucking into oysters and foie gras, the traditional French Christmas fare, revellers where able to sleep it off in a sheltered spot on their terrace should they wish.
However, those looking for property for sale in St Tropez must be warned that Christmas in T-shirts is not always the case. Whilst torrential downpours are rare, temperatures can plunge to single figures during winter months on the French Riviera. There is also more chance of the odd shower from November to March.
Generally spring is one of the best times to enjoy your villa St Tropez, with temperatures hotting up in March and April – unless indeed the weather was particularly warm at Christmas time! By May the thermostat is usually well into the 20Cs and whilst it is easily warm enough to lie on the beach, you might well be the only one as the tourists have not arrived yet.
Summers in the south of France can be extremely hot with temperatures regularly reaching the mid 30Cs. From June until August, humidity is low and the heat is tempered by the constant maritime breezes which blow from the Golf of St Tropez. Rainfall is unusual and with such perfect weather conditions, it’s hardly surprising that property for sale St Tropez is amongst the most coveted in Europe.
Autumn is another ideal time to visit St Tropez, with temperatures remaining high – around 18C – until late November in a good year. The chance of rain in October and November is higher than in summer or winter, but it rarely lasts for long.
